Giving Back to Our Community
We believe a strong community is one where everyone can take part. Through our nonprofit work, we create opportunities for people who are too often left on the sidelines, including people with mobility needs and neurodivergent people, to enjoy experiences many of us take for granted.
Our Mission
To make the outdoors, the ocean and community life accessible to everyone, regardless of ability.
How You Can Help
- Volunteer: Help our crew welcome guests on sailing days.
- Donate: Your support helps keep our programs safe, accessible and free for participants.
- Spread the word: Know someone who would enjoy a day on the water? Let them know about us.
Setting Sail Together: Pacific Oral Care’s Accessible Catamaran Program
By Dr. Paul Griffith
At Pacific Oral Care, we believe everyone deserves the chance to enjoy the ocean. That’s why we run an accessible sailing program aboard our catamaran, designed so people with mobility needs and neurodivergent people can join in safely and comfortably.
Our catamaran welcomes wheelchairs, walkers and other mobility aids, so no one has to stay behind on the dock. Its wide, stable deck makes for a smooth, steady ride, and our crew goes at your pace from the moment you board until you’re back on shore.
If you’re neurodivergent, you’re just as welcome. We aim to keep each trip calm and predictable, so you can relax and take in the sea air, the wildlife and the views of the Santa Cruz coastline.
We sail out of Santa Cruz Harbor and into the open ocean, where you might spot sea lions, dolphins or a passing whale. More than that, it’s a chance to share the water with friends, family and the wider community, because the ocean belongs to all of us.
Come sail with us. We go out every Wednesday and Saturday. If you’d like to join a trip or have questions about accessibility, please reach out to Pacific Oral Care. We’d love to have you aboard.
